From Fragile Systems to Living Roots: Why We’re Choosing a New Way
Greetings, friends and fellow travelers on the path toward a different kind of life.
Like many of you, we’ve been watching the growing instability around the world. The conflict in West Asia has revealed just how fragile our global systems really are. Disruptions in oil, fertilizers, LNG, helium, and other commodities have already caused ripple effects across the globe. And it appears this may get worse—much worse.
It looks to us like a global recession, possibly even a depression, is on the way. The United States won’t be spared. As the conflict continues and spreads, food and other shortages could impact all of us.
But here’s what we’re taking away from this moment: The mask has been ripped off.
We can now see that many of our large, centralized systems—developed over decades to provide us with food and products—have left us utterly reliant on them. Industrial agriculture, built on pesticides and monocultures, produces crops that often lack essential nutrients. Those crops then flow into a food system that churns out processed products that are even more deficient. The result? A population that is weakened, sickly, and dependent on a medical system that treats symptoms more often than root causes.
Add to that our sedentary lives, our time indoors, and our growing escape into digital reality. We’ve disconnected from nature, from physical movement, from sunshine. No wonder so many of us feel depleted in body, mind, and spirit.
But we don’t say any of this to shame or scare you. We say it because we believe there is another way—a better way.
We believe that as the old systems deteriorate (and many no longer make sense), we can transition toward something healthier and more freeing. A life more connected to nature. More self-reliant. Less anxious. More real.
Instead of succumbing to fear, we want to start building new structures now—structures that restore true freedom and the inner authority we’ve lost.
What might that look like? Gradually, we hope to discover that we can have a comfortable, meaningful life in a much more relaxed and reasonable way. Without destroying the environment. Without needing money for every necessity. Without expecting a paycheck for every hour of work.
There will be challenges. But we believe that through honest communication, shared creativity, and genuine coordination, we can transition to this new way of living—and discover a freedom we’ve only glimpsed.
Where we are now: We’re still actively seeking a property to begin this work. If you have leads or thoughts on land that might suit a homesteading project, please reach out. And if you’re inspired to start your own farmstead—wherever you are—we hope our journey encourages you.
Let’s shift from fear to hope. Let’s evolve—into more peaceful, connected, self-reliant, and loving people. One small root at a time.
